As we have rolled through the 2000 ten's, things have seem to have gotten worse in our ecosystem. Here recently we have had wild fires in not only multiple parts of California, but also in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Bee's are going extinct, and you have fish committing suicide because the water is so polluted. All of this is occurring because of the unnatural + unhealthy lifestyles that we have as human beings. As we kill our earth, we kill ourselves slowly and the species + animals around us, such as The African Elephant. The Great Elephant Census found 30% of African elephants disappeared over seven years. That's a huge percentage of a population that is gone, due to our lack to protect and nurture Mother Nature. Elephants are being slaughtered regularly by poachers who seek value / a money transaction in their ivory tusks.
The tusks are often sold for trade to Asia for supply + demand. In other countries in Africa, such as Tanzania, the elepant population has been decreased by 75%, creating a small...but actual large extension rate increase. In the country of Botswana they are taking a stand though unconventional war, in order to stop the slaughtering of elephants. But it does not seem to be doing much because of military forces and commands. We are failing The Elephant Kingdom.
